Japanese Class Cooking

Year five and six were lucky to do cooking for their Japanese class this week. They made onigiri or rice balls.  Nigiri comes from the verb nigiru, meaning to grasp ...so the students needed to squeeze the rice to form their shape and make it hold together. They also had to thank the cook in Japanese, and if they enjoyed eating they said, "Oishii!" or "Delicious."

Rippa Rugby

We played in a curtain raiser event before the Mitre 10 cup at NNH stadium on Saturday night!

The boys played really well. The coach from Albany said that it was the hardest game they had all year. The boys traded try for try! A shame that some will be moving on next year a bit more time together and they would be a very good team. Well done boys.

Thanks to Peter Buckley for all his support.

Tū Māia Festival at Silverdale

As a grand finish to Te Wiki o te Reo Maori, our kapa haka rōpū performed at the Tū Māia festival hosted at Silverdale School. With over fifteen rōpū performing from all over the district, it was very successful day.

Our rōpū performed with distinction and represented their whanau and Kau Whakatētē Haupapa Kura with pride.  Ka mau te wehi!
