Ki o Rahi
With the term in full swing we have been doing all sorts of fun activities. As well as training hard for cross country and mapping how far we have run on our maps, we have learnt how to play the traditional maori game of Ki o rahi. It is a fun game that can be played by teams of anything from 5 or 6 players to up to 20 players in a team. While the game is ancient - and has a legend that accompanies it - parts of the game have much in common with rippa, cricket, rugby, and netball.

Asia Experience morning
Orewa Primary Asia Experience morning
On Tuesday morning, before the Share the Learning conferences, years 5 & 6 travelled to Orewa Primary for the extension to our Mandarin and Japanese language learning. We had the opportunity to experience ten different Asian experiences led by Orewa College students.
Among others, we tried Japanese tea, painted Chinese calligraphy, drew Japanese anime, watched and acted out puppet theatre, had a chop sticks race and did some martial arts.
It was a great experience.
